AddingExternalLinks
You can add links to external web pages or to email addresses.
- To add a link to an external web page, simply type the page's URL.
It will appear as a clickable link.
For example, http://www.cnn.com/
- If a URL is for an image (that is, if it ends in
.gif, .jpg, .jpeg, or .png)
the image will appear on the page in place of the URL.
Please use your judgement when including images.
Large images may take a while to download, causing
unpleasant delays for readers who use slow modems.
Also, please avoid linking to images that you don't control
(i.e., that aren't on a server that you control). Otherwise, each
time a page that embeds that image is displayed, we're "stealing
bandwidth" from the third-party website that maintains the image.
Some sites are O.K. with that, others aren't.
- You can use the HTML tags for a link.
For example,
<a href="http://www.cnn.com">cnn</a>
makes the link read cnn.
The HTML for a link must appear on a single line.
Links won't be recognized and formatted correctly when broken
across multiple lines.
Images won't be appear inline if you use HTML.
My HTML links work just fine even thought they are longer in many cases than the edit box in which I create them and hence MUST be broken across multiple lines.
What means "Images won't be appear inline if you use HTML."? It doesn't seem to be a sentence and sentences that are close to it don't seem to be true.
