JasonAmaral

Hi,

Professionally, I help guide managers to more confident decisions. I usually work with engineering and operations organizations at high-tech hardware companies. Two of my clients are HP and Network Appliance.

Two areas of specialty are

  1. Analyzing the "cradle to grave" costs and benefits of product engineering decisions (for example: Should we reuse a mechanical subassembly in the next generation? Should we use a common power supply across the product portfolio?)

  2. Deciding if, when, how, and to what extent a company should work with outsourced and offshore development and manufacturing partners (for example, writing specifications, minimizing risks, protecting IP, working across time zones/cultures/languages, improving profits and not simply chasing low labor costs)

If you're interested, there's more about me at http://www.emeraldwise.com/jason_amaral.html

Personally, I like to hike and bike. I have a 10 month old son and a wife of 10 years. I live in Californias Silicon Valley.

I look forward to meeting you. My email is jason at emeraldwise dot com

This will be my first AYE conference (though Jerry was kind enough to host me for a couple of hours last year when I happened to be in Phoenix).

Jason, it's nice to meet you. I took the liberty of changing your real email address into something people can understand but a robot might have more trouble with. I hope that was ok. -- JohannaRothman 2006.10.01
