Sue Peterson mentioned the book Sources of Power: How People Make Decisions by Gary Klein. Drawing the diagrams helps people understand the meaning. The practice exercise was good. It helped pull the material together. I'm currently compiling verbal clues and triggers. Some are from The Art Of Systems Thinking and some are original. DonGray It's much easier to see the archetypes after they play out. The session presented the "negative" archetypes. The archetypes can also work as positive archetypes. For the positive archetypes check out: www.mhainstitute.ca/Htm/Newsletters/Htm/v11n2.htm The same facts can be seen as different archetypes. While confusing, this allows archetypes to be used as "glasses" that affect how we view the problem. Choosing a different archetype means we have different intervention points. It would have been nice to have time to include how / where to make interventions. This may be a session / BoF for 2005. DonGray Archetypes can be useful in retrospectives.
