SelfOrganizingConferencesThe Self-Organizing Conference Moderated by BruceEckel (This can either be a contributed session or a BOF, depending on what works best for people.) I have been putting on versions of this for several years now, together with Martin Fowler. So far, the conferences have been small less than 20 people but we are expanding them based on past experiences. We have experimented with various ways to organize and run the conferences, and I would like to discuss further ideas with interested people, including how to select presentations and presenters by letting the attendees decide what they're most interested in (instead of an advisory board), use the internet and web servers to help create the conference, ways to automate the registration system, and activities (like "lightning talks" and "open space") that are easy but greatly enhance the experience and interactivity of the attendees. This session can also discuss improvements to the organization of AYE. In particular, some of my research on web systems for conferences can apply here. [Return to ContributedSession] Please indicate your interest by signing up. Add any notes after your name: 1.
