Every control system should be thoroughly tested before going into production, but an amazing number aren't. Reasons vary: scheduling constraints, incomplete understanding of the system, or lack of proper simulation and testing tools. The specialty nature of the process, the control system and the users might account for lack of tools, but how can we account for incomplete understanding? This exercise helps illuminate your understanding of the entire development and startup process. We'll let you get your feet wet in a simulated development.

Would you care to comment on the Air Traffic Control update that took out the West Coast around 19th of October 2000? Will enough be known by the time we meet? -- DickKarpinski
Dick, I can't really comment. I haven't seen anything about it. Do you have a URL? -- Don [No, but there must be a lot of intended airline passengers who have opinions since it delayed or cancelled their flights. I was hoping that your contacts with the control system community would give you an edge on this information. -- DickKarpinski]
Are you interested in talking about control in "peopled systems" (such as enterprises and projects? About evolutionary control? About getting to "control without controlling?"
