SessionOne001Catching Yourself Being Yourself

How do you behave under pressure? What is your preferred style of interacting with others when you have a goal to meet or an outcome you'd like to achieve? Are you ever dissatisfied with the way you respond when other people push your buttons? Despite your best intentions, it's likely that at times you behave in an unproductive or incongruent manner -- we all do. Yet, in the moment, it can be really hard to catch yourself, or stop yourself, or know what to do instead. In this session we will strive to create a supportive community where we respect each other and what each participant is striving to learn. We consider this safety and respect necessary for this kind of learning. To encourage your learning, we will use a variety simulations and individual and team activities. And although we will be addressing serious material, we promise a fair share of humor and levity. This session will help you gain personal insight into how you cope with stressful situations, how you come across to others, and how you behave in various circumstances. Several concepts, models and techniques will be presented to help you become more aware of the options you have in interacting effectively with others. With the tools you'll gain in this session, you'll be more mindful of your behavior -- and better able to interact with those who are less mindful of theirs. Come prepared to learn -- and have fun!
