LIfecycles of the Rich and Famous
Jerry Weinberg, Pat O'Toole, Elisabeth Hendrickson

Every software product has a life cycle - conception, gestation, birth, life, growth, dying, death. The software literature contains a number of idealized life cycles, but what really takes place? Do all stages in software life get equal management attention? Should they? What happens if overemphasis is placed on one stage at the expense of the others? The circulating panel will attempt to share everybody's experience with life cycles, dealing with such questions as:

- What are some of the common lifecycles in actual use?

- What are some unusual variations?

- What is a lifecycle, really?

- What's a lifecycle good for?

- What are its pitfalls?

- What should you be doing about lifecycles in your organization?

Participants will take home new ideas to help them make their own lifecyles more effective.
