TechnicalDebt

Many are the causes of technical debt , as Dave Smith points out. Some of my favorites are the following places where organizations shortcut the necessary expenses of an ongoing wholesome software organization:
- Defering (perhaps forever) technical training
- Not upgrading documentation
- Reusing code without taking the trouble to put the necessary work into maintaining a code library.
- Not upgrading processes, or the documentation of or training in those processes. -

- vendor management functions that categorize contractors and consultants to keep their rates arbitrarily low. They miss the opportunity to work with some consultants and work with others who are not qualified to do the work. "you can pay now, or pay me later..."
