CharlieTierneyHi -
I've been exploring leadership in technology driven companies for several years. My background includes software test, systems engineering, programming, sales, marketing, strategy, and product development. This raw material has allowed me to work well with customers, technology, and product teams to define and build great products. I've been a people manager for the past six years and only in the past three years have I really begun to think of myself as a effective leader; paralleling that change in my thinking I began to really observe the behavior of people in organizations. Now I'm fascinated about understanding the intersection of leadership, people, organization, and technology - and how that relates to building great teams that produce great products. This is my first AYE and I'm looking forward to the experience.
Cool weblinks (i.e. Held my ADHD attention for a while ;-)
Ray Kurzweil has this great site that's worth a visit:

The Bibliotheque Nationale de France is digitising their entire collection, starting with images and moving to full text. This is the wave of the future. Yes, it's always worthwhile to pay attention to what Kurzweil is up to. And, knowing your brother as I do, I'm really looking forward to meeting you, Charlie. I'll try not to make comparisons. I'm pretty good at taking people as they are, not relative to relatives, but you can kick my butt if I slip up. - JerryWeinberg 2004.10.12 I don't meet that many people who know James, so that's nice. My coming to AYE was the product of listening to James, Fredric Laurentine, and Alan Brenner. So I have three points of intersection with you. Now I'm really looking forward to AYE.
