DavidHolinstat

Im David Holinstat, and I live in Herrenberg, Germany (near Stuttgart). I found out about the AYE Conference about 2-3 years ago, after entering Jerry Weinberg into . Since then I have toyed with the idea of attendingand voil! I hope that Jerry will autograph my 1977 copy of The Psychology of Computer Programming :-)

My employer is Verigy Ltd., a spin-off of Agilent Technologies, which was spun off from Hewlett-Packard in 1999. We make systems for characterizing and testing ICs. My current title is R&D Process Manager, and right now Im mostly concerned with getting the organization aligned on what processes we will use to develop software and complex systems. Since we are all engineers, everyone knows what the best way isif only there were not 100 best ways! My current challenge is introducing and integrating an iterative, risk-based SW development process into a traditional, waterfall life cycleand I just got an e-mail from the Sales team requesting that product definitions be frozen and customer documentation finished 9 months before product release!

During my 27 years at HP / Agilent / Verigy, I have worked as a software developer, software quality engineer, internal product generation consultant, and manager of a team supplying engineering infrastructure. My college degrees are in Psychology and Computer Sciencerather than decide, I seem to have gravitated towards positions requiring both. The AYE Conference seems to fit perfectly here

Im looking forward to meeting you all!

Hi David. I'm looking forward to meet you too. -- JohannaRothman 2006.09.12
100 "best" ways. Wow. I worked with some engineers from Hauni when I started professionally programming a quarter century ago. I appreciate your position.

Welcome to AYE. DonGray 2006.09.12

David, I would be honored to autograph your copy of "Psychology." Some of my clients apparently think that my autographing my books for their executives will automatically improve the quality of their products. (Those are the clients who need me most.) - JerryWeinberg 2006.09.17
