EffectiveBossesWhoWrite

I'm impressed by people who do things. Less impressed by the pure pundits. There's a sub-genre of books by effective bosses who write about what they do. So, I started a page for that.

"It's easy to be a holy man on a mountaintop." is one aphorism for people seeking to lead a good life. How compelling are the folks who wade in to balancing competing agenda, making something valuable in a market, enlisting other folks, and live a good life on top of all that? Inspiring, actually. Some bosses are more "Philosophers of Business" than pure Wharton-schooled quants. Some of them actually pay attention to the human system they work in. Here are a few of mine:

  • MaxDePree, author of LeadershipIsAnArt, and LeadershipJazz
  • RobertTownsend, author of UpTheOrganization, and FurtherUpTheOrganization
  • RusselAckoff, author of AckoffsLaws and many more.
  • CharlesHandy, author of TheAgeOfUnreason and many more.
