KenBabcockIm impressed, reading the bios of so many IT giants. Maybe my name being near the top of the list will encourage someone else who reads my bio to enter theirs as well. ('Are you nobody too?' Thank you, Emily.) My experience is mostly in helping my family and work assignments stay out of trouble. My companion of 38 years is better at both. 1967 gave me beginnings, both in family and in data processing. After watching some students learning to wire an IBM 407 board, I figured there had to be a better way. So I took a free programming course and was keypunching cards when I got the announcement that my wife was in labor with our first. Everything got a lot more interesting after that. See you in a few days. You can recognize me by my smile. KB Ken, I am not "anybody" either, except to my family and friends. That does not appear to matter to anyone at AYE, including me. But you may need a name tag - nearly all of us have a smile. If you are in Saturday, perhaps we will see you for dinner. SherryHeinze 2002.10.31 Ken, Welcome! I don't know who you were thinking of, when you wrote about IT "giants", but the only thing giant about me is my mouth -- when I get going, I can't stop talking :-) However, I do tower over NaomiKarten, so compared to her, I'm a giant. Looking forward to seeing your smile, JohannaRothman 2002.10.31 Thank you for the welcome! I've finally punched through my wall of projects to browse the Wiki. Way green! Even greater than reading these ideas will be to interact with the thinkers. Johanna, I appreciate your open planning, giving us freedom to consider our session choices. And the Wiki gives us a non-coercive place to begin. (We had an old Chevy once. When we turned the steering wheel too hard, it made a sound like 'Wiki-Wiki-Wiki'.) KB Johanna is correct that she towers over me, but I'm cuter :-). Anyway, my bark is worse than my height! See you soon. NaomiKarten 2002.11.01 Ken, we have so much in common, besides our first names. I got my beginnings in 67 too! That was the Year I was born. I also try to stay out of trouble. KenEstes 2002.11.01.
