PaulaObrienThis will be my first year attending the AYE conference. My title is Sr. Systems Analyst - QA and I work for Children's Hospital and Health System in Milwaukee, WI. I have been in system development and quality assurance since about 1990. I have been in my current position for 8 years. My role involves work with all of our custom development projects - Access, .NET, SQL, Oracle, VB, etc. The health system has about 3000 employees with various offices around the state. Our IS Applications Development team has about 55 people. The team I am on develops applications for a lot of the specialty areas in our organization - Cardiology, HIV, child welfare services, fund raising events, Neurology, etc. etc. Very interesting work!! In the past I have been attending QAI and SQE conferences. In a recent conversation with Randy Rice at a Milwaukee SPIN (Software Process Improvement Network) meeting, I asked him to recommend a conference and he recommended AYE. So .... here I am! Paula, welcome! -- JohannaRothman 2004.07.14 Welcome to the AYE Community. A kayaking buddy runs an infectious disease clinic in Greensboro NC. Being an EMT I greatly respect his work. DonGray 2004.07.14 Hi Paula. I used to live in Milwaukee, where I managed the Eddie Matthews Baseball BatAway. That was when the Braves were in America's only Socialist City. Shows how old I am. Anyway, we're going to have quite a few people at AYE this year who are involved in health care systems (or, as some call them, sickness care systems). It's one of the most important areas in which great things still lie ahead for information systems. If only we could get that Universal Patient Record. - JerryWeinberg 2004.07.14 Welcome, Paula. SteveSmith 2004.07.15 Thanks for all the welcome messages! Looking forward to the conference. Jerry, don't hold your breath on that Universal Patient Record... - Paula O. 2004.08.04 If I had held my breath, I would no longer need a UPR. 40+ years ago, I was told it would be a fact within the decade. - JerryWeinberg 2004.08.04 Hello everyone! I had a wonderful time at the conference and I already miss talking to all of you; some of the best listeners I have ever met. In returning to work, I have already seen improvement in my communication with my boss and co-workers; amazing! My email address is [email protected] if any of you would like to keep in touch. Thanks for an enlightening, well-organized conference.PaulaObrien 2004.11.15
