Post AYE Stress Disorder

Wow! AYE was not what I expected, which is exactly what I expected! I only wish I had found the time/the courage/empty chair to have been able to get to know more people, er, more. :)

Every day since the conference has been like another AYE session as things discussed and presented during my time in Phoenix continue to evolve, emerge and generally have me all of a dither.

Several of the excellent folks I met at AYE are probably already fed up with my emails, but having discovered the possibilities of sharing ideas and asking for advice, I intend to take advantage of it! In return I am extremely willing and relatively springy if you have documents or ideas you would like reviewed or would simply like to bounce off someone.

In the meantime, I have started a BLOG - albeit camping out on a slightly murky pitch until I work out how to create my own website. So feel free to wade through my 'mental laundry basket' as VanWray so eloquently put it:

Hi there! Since, with one exception, nobody here knows me yet, I'll rectify that now.

Work: I am a certified SEI lead assessor for the SW-CMM. (If you don't recognise those acronyms, then you probably don't care what I do either!) Having worked my way through from end user, operations, systems programming, systems engineering, project and program management, I ended up specializing in software process improvement. I am currently part of a small (but perfectly formed) group within Wachovia, working with IT groups on various process improvement intiatives.

Play: I spend as much time as I can enjoying my family while the kids still think their parents are cool! I enjoy playing golf (or my interpretation of it) and console myself that if I have a bad day, the higher my score, the lower my cost-per-shot ratio. My real passion is for writing fiction, and I recently signed with an agent to sell my latest novel.

Background: Born and raised in England, my wife and I moved to Florida in 1989. After Florida we moved to Rochester, NY (snow shovel capital of the world), but recently came down to Charlotte, North Carolina, and feel very much at home. We became US citizens earlier this year.

If you so desire you can drop me a line at: [email protected] or leave your message here.

I'm really looking forward to my first AYE.

Hi Rob. It sounds like you and AYE make a perfect fit. You know, maybe we should have a BoFs on FictionWriting. Lots of tips we could share, and I'm sure there will be others who have similar aspirations. - JerryWeinberg 2003.09.10
Just for grins, here's RobWyattBackStory. RobWyatt 2003.9.16
OK, skeptical Cancerian, you might be interested in the section of my Guest Book page which offers a horoscope to any interested AYE participant. SherryHeinze 2003.09.16

Hi Rob! yes, I will most likely recognize the TLAs on your resume :-); and I am looking forward to meeting you (can we speak in full words, tho?) I also strongly recommend Sherry's horoscopes. She blew me away when she told me I had a different sign than I'd always thought I had.... and, what a surprise to find that so shocking! Goes to show -- any kind of change can throw us for a loop! See you in November, DianeGibson 9-20-03
