This is the Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) session wiki.

What do all these letters mean????

As the conference team was creating and designing session, we notice that MBTI kept coming up in the conversation... how type influences communication, debate, problem solving, personal development choices...

And it occurred to us that not everyone attending may know what these letters mean. This session will provide a basic introduction to type, just enough to get an idea of what the letters mean, what your type might be and how that affects the way you stand in the world, take in information and make decisions.

(We will not be using the actual instrument in the session. If some participants want to further explore their type preferences, we can arrange for a one-on-one sessions during conference free time.)

The session will be limited to 20 participants.

Esther and Eileen are both qualitifed to administer the MBTI instrument and use type extensively in their work. EstherDerby

What have you found to work to tease out a person's indicators when they can't answer the instrument questions beyond "it depends"? Have you found any reliable way for other people to assign MBTI types to someone they know?

Aside from the occasional broad insight, where can you or I find benefit from knowing someone's MBTI category? Is it only valuable for smoothing relations with that person and picking good tasks for them, or are there others? -- DickKarpinski
