Welcome! or Welcome Back, as the case may be.

My experience and interests:

Work related

  • I've been working on and with software systems a long time.
  • I have produced my share of plans, project and team charters, processes, and models.
  • Most of my recent work has been with requirements faciliation, analysis modeling, model simulation, and team facilitation.

My other interests include:

  • Scuba diving (no phones, no computers, total mind shift). Floating. Fishes. Fun.
  • The visual arts. Robert and I play with video, still photography, graphic art (like making our Christmas cards and an occasional holiday calendar).
  • Growing plants. In addition to outdoor gardening, I have a huge collection of tropical plants (83 at last count) including about 30 orchids.

2005, so far

  • Have settled into the new experience of organizational living and working. Oddly I am able to sit back and smile at some of the idiocy and craziness. I've spent a lot of time with Linda Rising's Fearless Change. I am learning a lot about what I need to learn about organizational work
  • Aetna is re-org'ing for the ... ah, 5th?... time since last November. The latest hasn't fully been announced. Well, some people have been told and others haven't which makes for interesting dynamics. I'm waiting to see if they get away with not telling some of us at all. (My desk will undoubtedly be in the same place and I already know who my manager is)
  • Life is settled down at home. My mother is busy sewing things for everyone and learning how to play well with others. Robert worked for a while in a scuba shop (should amuse my colleagues from SEM 98). And along with the dog we're coping with 3 cats.

Looking forward to seeing everyone at AYE!

2006
I will miss you all this year. One conference per year I fund myself and this August I will be attending Avanta's conference and Virginia Satir's 90th birthday celebration.

Life in the commuting lane remains interesting and amusing. The fact that I have time off after work and on weekends to have a life still delights me. That time is spent with family and my evolving projects - organizing my "rocks" (see Weinberg on Writing); sewing fantastical bags from velvet, microsuede, silk and other exotic scraps from my mother's sewing room along with my assortment of beads, threads, and feathers; and I've reclaimed our stone walk and garden from a couple of years of neglect and noticed that some plants slowly moved to a better location - well, I guess their offspring. The light or soil looked better.

Have a great time at AYE. You can reach me on the wiki, and I'll be chiming in now and then. See you in person in 2007.

Becky,

Jerry said that you were the one to ask.

I was wondering if Ward Cunnigham might be invited to AYE. The Wiki is certainly a tool for the AYE community - CharlesAdams 04.06.03

Charles, Ward is an interesting choice. I am processing the offered programs through my scheduling alchemy. And, I will keep your suggestion at the forefront if we find we need to augment our program. In any case Ward Cunningham would be a great candidate for AYE any year.

Many thanks for your efforts to get this to me. If Ward doesn't appear in our next program he will remain in our pool of people who could add value to AYE.

I would be interested in your opinion of our intiial schedule as input into our revision process.

The people I would be most interested in meeting are: Karl E. Wiegers and Norman L. Kerth. I am a big fan of both of their books.

This WIKI is like a wishing well, just ask and it will come true!

Got a private email from Karl Weigers. He was pointed to this page by a friend and thought he would introduce himself to me. We are going to meet up this year in Nov. when I am in Oregon.

How cool is that, I place a request to invite a well respected author to a conference and he writes ME and invites me to his house!

AAAHH, dreams do come true ;)
