CoAuthoringBooks

Moderated by BruceEckel

(This can either be a contributed session or a BOF, depending on what works best for people.)

What works for coauthoring books, and what is a sure-fire formula for failure? I've had both experiences (more failures than successes) and talked to a few others who have coauthored. Also, there are several folks at the conference who've coauthored, and even more who may be considering it (thinking that it would be a lot "easier" than writing the whole book themselves – perhaps this is a notion we can dispel). My hope is that we can collect a few tips that may help tip the scales in the "success" direction. In addition, we can discuss other publishing issues that may help those at the conference who are still interested in this particular trial-by-fire :-).

  1. DaveSmith I've walked away from a couple of co-authoring situations, but am considering another one. This session interests me.
  2. JohannaRothman. I've coauthored articles and am working on a book with EstherDerby and I'm difficult because I can't make this as a contributed session, so I hope it's a BOF.
  3. JerryWeinberg I've successfully co-authored many books, and I learned something new from each experience. I'll try to make it, though I've got a rather heave schedule for the week.
