DinnerRequirements

Following itemizes several requirement / solution pairs for DinnerSaturday. I'm wrong about quite a few of these, I'm sure. So please jump in and fix those. Even better take an unknown and resolve it.

  • Accommodate late arrivals - Known location local to hotel, and pot-luck presentation solves that.
  • Feed vegetarians also - Address via "chef tricks": multiple dishes with some vegetable only. Create courses with meat separate, for individual addition on plate. Places a small constraint on menu planning.
  • Need a place - Candidate solution is hosts' suite in hotel.
  • Space for N people - Don't know. Count and room size are both unknown.
  • Enough cooking hands - At least three (?) folks willing to do stuff.
  • Menu - No clue.
  • Shopping List - Likewise no clue.
  • Getting it paid for - Recommend that someone own "the pot". We buy what we need, then split the cost among people eating. Somebody, not othewise engaged can deal with the pot.
  • Wine & paying for - Recommend two tabs, one for food, one for wine.
  • Utensils - No clue.
  • Stuff to eat from - No clue.
  • Tables, chairs, and other accommodations - No clue.
  • Cooking surface(s) available - No clue.
  • Disposal - No clue.

We're off to a good start.

Other Random Thoughts

Some people may prefer beer or soft drinks or water.

We could use picnic style plates and utensils

If we do a buffet and have enough chairs, is having limited table space a problem?

Nice. Here's a couple mroe tasks:

  • Eating space prep. Moving things out of the way. Hiding stuff that can be damaged. That sort of thing.
  • Nail down a headcount. Close order of magniude (factor of 2) by the weekend before AYE. Actual counting number by the time we go shopping.

I can take care of recording the menu, shopping list, and ingredients by dish, when we get there. We're not there yet. Need some ideas. Anything in particular (or in general, for that matter) that people want? There's also a MenuTrick to this.

I've got a few random thoughts on DoingThisTogether as well.

Feels good so far.

A thought. Could we eat around the pool if the rooms and balconies are too crowded?

And, here is the only picture I could find of the rooms. Does this help Jim?

Diane, I would be happy to help you shop if I am there in time. I hope to be checked in by 3:30.

Sherry,

Sounds good to me. I believe we can get the hotel shuttle to take us. Is there a menu from which a list can be prepared? Is this going to happen?
