HuwLloydemail: HuwDLloyd(at)btinternet.com The parentheses are a precaution against spammers. Hi, This will be my first AYE conference, and my first trip to America. I've been dipping in and out of software since micros became popular. Its nice to see a hotel with, what looks like, a good sized pool. I'm a fairly competent swimmer, so if anyone would like some tips I'll be glad to help. More later I expect - Huw. I am currently contract programming, principally in C++. To date, I have enjoyed working within a variety of business domains. I have found rewards in achieving my own goals, but the greater rewards have arisen from helping others. This has entailed expressing business needs, encouraging communication and pitching-in to meet deliverables. Fundamentally I wish to make the world a better place. There are times when I feel low-pot when working on programming tasks that can seem orthogonal to peoples needs. The empathic warmth I feel for others can easily be lost in in the minutiae of criticism and argument for arguments sake, and concern over meeting expectations. For me, this warmth is a key necessity of my working life, and as such I wish to inhere a deep appreciation for congruent behaviour. Whilst chatting with you all, I shall be keeping in mind future roles to engage in, such as Analysis, Management and Consulting. Huw, welcome! Where are you coming from? -- JohannaRothman 2004.08.14 Hi Johanna. Claire and I live in the UK. I'm looking forward to the conference. I don't have a fixed agenda in mind, but it would be nice if I came away from the conference having improved my listening skills. -- HuwLloyd 2004.08.15 Hi, I'm Claire, and I'll be coming to Phoenix with Huw. Rather than attending the conference (although I may be around for mealtimes), I'll be spending my time exploring Phoenix - I guess that that might involve learning to play golf, but I'm not sure what else I can get up to!!! If anyone has any ideas of ThingsToDoInPhoenix, please let me know, the more active the better. After the conference we're heading for the Grand Canyon which should be fun!!!!! -- Claire 2004.08.15 Hi to Claire and Huw from a fellow Brit. Hope you enjoy your first AYE conference. My first was last year (2003), having "met" (in person, e-mail, the SHAPE forum, etc.) several people in the Weinberg and Satir communities starting in around 1999. The conference and communities are both great experiences. I'm hoping to get along this year. If you get the chance to take part in JeanMcLendon's sessions I would recommend them very highly.
