MikeMcIntoshHi, I'm Mike McIntosh. I hope to enter a little more information later today! Hi Mike. Welcome to AYE. If you don't get it posted here, we'll all just have to meeting you personally next week - not too terrible! - JerryWeinberg 2002.10.27 Welcome, Mike! - BeckyWinant 2002. 10.30 Mike, I'm thrilled you'll be at AYE. I'm looking forward to meeting you in person. JohannaRothman 2002.10.31 Let me try again. Thanks for your welcome, Jerry, Becky, and Johanna. Susie tells me I'm the first from Michigan who will be attending AYE. A dubious distinction, some my think, but I'm glad to be first somewhere. I'm writing this as the Halloween trick or treating is beginning to wane. I'm looking forward to attending, very much. I don't know how several months ago I ended up on the AYE site, but since reading some of the hosts' articles and conversing with a couple over e-mail, I decided to take the plunge. I've been doing software design and development and project mgt for about 18 years. Before that, I taught junior high and high school for six years. It was about that time a friend and psychologist pointed out to me that people tend to teach at their maturity level. I guess he figured I proved his point. The best novel I've recently read is Jayber Crow by Wendell Berry. He is a southern author and an agrarian thinker. He's provocative for a Midwesterner raised in the cradle of Motown. My two favorite movies are Braveheart and George of the Jungle. I'm always looking for different books and new movies. I'm posting this quite late, but I'll mention two things I'm thinking about during the conference. The first is I am hoping to attend a local church service, preferably sometime Sunday, and preferably at a Presbytarian or Episcopal church. If you can recommennd one to me, please do so. And anyone wanting to join me is very welcome. The second is that I'd like to do a little walking or hiking in some natural beauty somewhere within driving distance of the hotel. Again, any recommendations or any partakers are welcome. I'm looking forward to meeting you all. MikeMcIntosh 10.31.02 Mike, thanks for telling us how you found AYE. It helps us understand. As far as being the first from Michigan is concerned, at least I'm a graduate of UofM, so you won't be completely alone. As far as finding a church, I'm not sure what's available. I suppose Becky and I, being Quakers, can go to any kind of ceremony with impunity from excommunication. For walking, I only know where we took the dogs last year. But we'll all share info, and we'll find good stuff. - JerryWeinberg - Halloween 2002 I washed my UofM sweatshirt and I'm brining it, not that I need it.... Sounds like a plan for getting around. See you soon. Mike 11/1/02
