SuggestionsForOtherActivities2004What other sorts of activities would enhance your AYE experience? A wiener roast? Flamenco dancing? A cruise? (in Phoenix?) I am trying to find where to submit a participants session. Can someone give me directions? MartineDevos Shape Day in Sedona this year! :-) --SuePetersen 2004.03.21 Sue, I don't know if this even fits for Jerry, but a requirement of Shape Day is that there is a place to meet. Do you know of places to meet? Are you willing to organize it? I'm the logistics chair for the conference this year, and I am not willing to organize a Shape Day anywhere else other than at the hotel in Phoenix. Just thought I'd make my position clear :-) JohannaRothman 2004.03.24 Sedona is a really nice town, but I don't really want to spend half of Shape Day in a car with a few people driving back and forth to Sedona. I would like to talk to other Shapers. Sue, does it have to be Shape Day in Sedona? Could it be the day after Shape Day in Sedona for people who want a chance to sightsee? Or the day before the conference starts? If it was planned early, people would not have their plane tickets yet. SherryHeinze 2004.03.24 Sue, I have the same objection that I did last year: If I'm extending my stay for SHAPE, I want that time spent on SHAPE, not on driving somewhere else that takes time away at both ends--getting there and then getting to the airport. If you really want a trip to Sedona, I suggest putting out an invite, and see who wants to join you before the conference. Sedona is a really neat place. DaveSmith 2004.03.25 Johanna - yes, I would be willing to organize such a thing, but there seems to be a lot of energy around the idea of staying in Phoenix for Shape Day. Under the circumstances, I withdraw my suggestion. I will almost certainly try to plan a trip for myself, and I would be pleased to help plan and/or to share that time, if anybody from the group wishes to join me. I have found that profoundly beautiful places help me to 'anchor' an experience that I wish to remember and to reflect upon. --SuePetersen 2004.03.25 I have not made my travel arrangements as yet. I would be interested in going to Sedona with someone who has been there that could show me things that I might miss. I find a guide very useful. I did this for friends who visited me when I was living in Los Angeles. Saturday or Sunday before, or Friday after would work for me. CharlesAdams 2004.03.25 Sue did set up a Sedona trip. It was the weekend before AYE 2004. We visitied the art galleries, we drove up Oak Creek Canyon between Sedona and Flagstaff, and we went to Flagstaff to the Museum of Northern Arizona. Next time anyone sees Sue, ask her about Stella. Quite an adventure! CharlesAdams 2004.11.18 <giggle> Stella is a very nice, hard-working GPS... She just needs a new voice, maybe Leonard Nimoy's... ;-) That was a truly nice trip! It's been a long time since everything worked out perfectly on a trip. Charles must bring good luck! :-) --SuePetersen 2004.11.18
