Measuring and Managing Performance in Organizations by Robert D. Austin

Surpassing Ourselves: An Inquiry into the Nature and Implications of Expertise by Carl Berieter, et al

I used to slave through the second half of these kind of books but not anymore. Now, I'm thankful for the good first half, which is better than most books, and move to the next book.

Not "first half", but "half". Half of is excellent, and half induces narcolepsy. The content is good in both halves. I suspect this has to do with the respective writing styles of the two authors.
