KathyRhodeHello, all. I've been watching the AYE web since 2000 or 2001, and I'm so pleased that I'll be attending the conference this year! I have worked on software projects since 1983. About half that time has been spent in testing; the other half has been divided among process improvement, process nagging (a.k.a. SQA), and requirements development, seasoned with a bit of project management, subcontract management, risk management, and user documentation/help development. I'm currently doing process improvement and auditing for two development groups: software and electrical. My lack of EE knowledge is a bit of a handicap, but I have found that people skills are the really important skills in this job. I'm sure that's news to no one in this forum. In reading other Guest Book entries I ran across the following connections: - I also was a 98G, Russian -- for the Army in 1975-79 - I do some kayaking, although on flat water, not white water -- and not well enough to instruct anyone! - my degrees are in computer science/software development and anthropology I have another outside interest that I haven't seen anyone else here mention -- ballroom dancing. I look forward to meeting all of you! Email: [email protected] 2003.07.29 Kathy, welcome! What's a 98G? -- JohannaRothman 2003.07.29 Hi, Kathy. EstherDerby has been an avid ballroom dancer. I don't know if she's been dancing much recently, but I'm sure you'll have a lot to discuss. As for me, my ballroom days are over, but I'm a great fan and spectator. Of anthropology, too. DonGray is a very accomplished whitewater guy - another sport from which I've retired. - JerryWeinberg 2003.07.29 Privyet, Katya! Misha Melendez 2003.0730 A 98G[2LRU] is a voice intercept operator, Russian -- my job code from my Army days. I mentioned it because I saw it in Don Gray's entry, which Misha/ MikeMelendez (spacebo, Misha!) also seems to recognize. -- KathyRhode 2003.07.30 Greetings Kathy! I'm delighted you're coming to the conference! From your service dates, it looks like we were in the Army together. Let's compare notes at the conference. An engineer at a client company has adopted two Russian children. Seems what Russian I haven't forgotten has acquired a southern drawl? BTW, if you're interested, I have an Obryatnyj and Orfograph???? slovar' for sale. I'm on the road so I'll look up the correct spelling when I get home (Saturday). EstherDerby also has a touring kayak. Necky I believe. DonGray 2003.07.31 Cool, another process improvement lacky! I'm sure we'll have plenty of war stories to share of a different kind. I look forward to meeting you. RobWyatt 2003.9.11
