Hi, all! I've recently been named director of QA & implementation at Cox Interactive Media (CIM). Located in Atlanta, GA, we produce city portal websites.

I got into the online business in '93, from the media side. In that capacity, I was managing editor and then general manager of AccessAtlanta.com for CIM. I have always been deeply involved in how we use technology to improve our sites and production processes, and have been fortunate to work with several brilliant and creative programmers throughout my career. As CIM's network grew from 4 to 22 sites, some process holes developed, and I moved from Access Atlanta to the network team to lead "product initiatives," working mostly on application-development requirements and on creating, then refining our implementation processes.

It's been an interesting journey. We now recognize that we're in the software development business, and have reorganized into functional units that reflect that business, rather than the media business from which we emerged. In the process of prepping for my new job, I've read articles written by several of the presenters at this conference. I've been impressed by the mix of subject matter expertise and understanding of human behavior that y'all have, and am excited about what I have to learn from you.

Nancy

It sounds like we've discovered each other, and found a great fit. That's the number one purpose of AYE. I checked the y'all link, and it says they've moved to Access Atlanta (I've put in a space so we won't create an extra page, but if you want one, put it back.) - JerryWeinberg
Hi, Nancy! Luckily AYE lets us learn from each other. Look forward to meeting you and learning more. - BeckyWinant
Hi Nancy, Welcome! I hope y'all (page is still "disconnected") have fun at AYE. - NynkeFokma
Nancy, I bet it's not just fun, but exciting now that everyone realizes you're in the software development business. I'm looking forward to meeting you at AYE. -- JohannaRothman
Wow, thanks for the warm welcome! Alas, yall.com has gone fishin' permanently, though we still have a few postcards squirreled away on AccessAtlanta.com.

I've been looking over the program, and am wondering which sessions are likely to be most targeted on cross-functional relationships: How Are You Managing Your Executive Committee?: Dealing with Inner Conflict appears to be. Are there others? Am also interested in Re-Framing:It's Your Choice: A Significant Skill in the Effective Use of Self; Ingredients of Team Interaction; What's Wrong with My Staff? -- How Management Style Affects Organization Potential. I'm interested in virtually all of the Individual Effectiveness sessions under the theory that change begins with the individual.

You've got that right! One person at a time, and that's a basic premise of the whole conference. Be sure you use the most current NewSessionDescriptions, because we'll still be making last-minute adaptations. - JerryWeinberg
Hi, Nancy.

I just read your post on Johanna's page that you'd read her column in the Sept/Oct issue of STQE. There are other AYE-types in that issue: John Suzuki on Distributed Teams; Don Gray recommending MMPO; Jerry Weinberg on Idempotency. You can get to know a bunch of people who will be at AYE by reading STQE. (the Editorial Director, Pamela Young is planning to attend, too.)
