HeinzeAyeNotes

I am using Mike's idea of saving the old notes elsewhere.

SherryHeinze 2006.06.04

After AYE 2000

I came to AYE 2000 and it was the most important thing that had happened to me in a long time. This is not just one more conference. I am really looking forward to this year's and to seeing many of you again & meeting others for this first time.

I'm a test analyst for a consulting company in Canada, located in Calgary. The group I work in does custom development. We try very hard to start a test analyst on the projects on day one, and have an ongoing battle with clients over the logic behind that. But at least we are seldom fighting with our own people about it anymore. We are getting terrific support from local management.

Welcome back, Sherry. You've given me an idea for Bob's and my session on getting projects started right: You seem to know about getting people started right, and certainly each new person you bring into your organization is a project. Thanks for the tip, and I hope you can come to our session and share some of your secrets. - JerryWeinberg
Sherry, I'm looking forward to seeing you again this year. Regarding the logic behind starting test analysts on the project day one, you might check out an article I recently wrote for Stickyminds.com. It's on their web site under the archive of columns & articles. The title is "A Hudson's Bay Start". It may give you yet one more way to explain/sell the idea of testing work early in the project. - EileenStrider
Sherry! I'm delighted that you will be returning and look forward to talking with you again face-to-face. I am a firm believer in test analysts being involved in project from the start. JamesBach and I have exchanged some ideas about this, too. - BeckyWinant
Sherry, are you going to tell other folks about your talents in horoscoping people? (Well, I guess I made a new word here.) It's a fascinating way to learn more about ourselves. -- JohannaRothman
Actually, in my feedback last year I offered to do a horoscope for any host or participant who wanted to send me date, time & location of birth, full name at birth (and Myers-Briggs type if available). A few of you took me up on it. The offer stands, since I do these because it is fun. Since I leave for AYE 4 weeks from tomorrow, I won't guarantee to get the horoscopes done before I go, but I will try. Home e-mail is sheinze_@_telusplanet_._net
After AYE 2001

I notice that we have some new people in the GuestBook, and my personal info is out of date, so I thought that I would update it. I have been to AYE the last 2 years and am registered for AYE 2002. I no longer work for the consulting company. I am contracting on my own again. The VP at the old job said that I was feeling "confined". I guess that is true. I still like the company, but too many other people thought they could decide important things for me - like what professional development is important. One of the factors in deciding to contract again was being able to use before tax dollars for the conferences and workshops I feel are important for me - like AYE and PSL. So I am contracting as a test lead.

Some things don't change. The horoscope offer is still open, but the horoscopes are coming very slowly right now. I am travelling way too much on this contract while trying to get ready to move in a month. Nonetheless, the home e-mail address is still good & I will do them eventually. I really enjoy doing them.

Sherry 2002/03/31

Sherry, do you have some papers on the AYE website? Could you put the URLs here?

KeithRay 2002.10.02

Keith, I have an article in 2001 called Client 101 and one in 2002 called Spending as if There is no Tomorrow. You can find them if you use the Article Search on the Home page and search on my name, unless you use Netscape. Even then you might be able to, if your version of Netscape is new enough. I cannot use the search until I update, which I am unwilling to do right now. If you can't search either, let me know and I will email them to you. Sherry 2002.10.3

After AYE 2002

Sherry, does the new search not work in your Netscape? If so, there is the old-fashioned way to search:
  1. Go to http://www.ayeconference.com/articles.html
  2. Click on "find" in Netscape, and type in your name. You'll see the articles written by you.

Here they are, in any case:

-- JohannaRothman 2003.03.23

Thanks, Johanna. Actually, the new Search does work in Netscape. When I went through this last night, I was just checking to see if I had noted that I went back to contracting. SherryHeinze 2003.3.23
Sherry, thanks for the note. I am looking forward to seeing you again. I want to see how our PSL class has incorporated the experience into our lives and work. CharlesAdams 2003.04.04
After AYE 2003

It's a boy! My grandson was born November 8th just after the lunar eclipse, just under 7 pounds. Middle names still under discussion, but his first name is Tate. SherryHeinze 2003.11.09

Congratulations! Perfect timing! I hope baby and mother are doing well. I'm looking forward to pictures...

ED 11/09/03

Sherry, Wow! Congratulations.

SteveSmith 2003.11.09

Huzzah! You had your cake and you could eat it too! CharlesAdams 2003.11.09

Sherry, Congratulations!

I am also looking forward to the pictures! BobKing 2003.11.09

Ditto! Hope you are both doing well and having fun together.
JayPortnoy 2003.11.10
Yay!! Congratulations

IraWeinstein 2003.11.12

Sherry, congratulations. What is Tate's horoscope ? -- LaurentBossavit 03.11.12

Sherry I look forward to seeing you again!

Before AYE 2004

I am moving this down to the bottom so people might find it.

Actually, in my feedback the first year I offered to do a horoscope for any host or participant who wanted to send me date, time & location of birth, full name at birth (and Myers-Briggs type if available). Every year a few of you take me up on it. The offer stands, since I do these because it is fun. Home e-mail is sheinze_at_telusplanet_._net. Take out the _'s.

SherryHeinze 2004.06.11

Before AYE 2005

Above offer still stands.

Sherry, I am going to try to remember to find my astrological chart and birth information so I can learn more about myself via those angles. JeanMcLendon jmclendon @satirsystems.com

Sherry, I tried your email from the AYE list (telusplanet.com) but got a bounce. Have you moved, virtually speaking? I can be reached directly at <lastname>-at-etnus.com. MikeMelendez 2005.04.08
No, there is an error on the list. My email is s <lastname> - at- telusplanet.net. SherryHeinze 2005.04.08
See the UsabilityTesting thread for info on what I am working on now. SherryHeinze 2005.05.13
A discussion with JeanMcLendon reminded me that I should mention here my Avanta (www.avanta.net) membership and my intent to list in the Satir Practioners Registry. Several other active and previous AYE attendees also belong. SherryHeinze 2005.09.09
Sherry, the horoscope you did for me was awesome. I predict I will continue to digest it for years ... Look forward to seeing you again in November. IraWeinstein 2005.10.12
Hi Sherry, I wondered if I could take you up on horoscope offer on behalf of my baby son ? He was born on 27.04.04 @ 5.56am in Edinburgh, UK. --AlanFrancis 2005.10.14
Sure, Alan, but I would be curious to do yours as well. I would also like his full name as registered at birth. You can send it to the email address just above the Before AYE 2005 section. SherryHeinze 2005.10.15
Alan, are you really older than me? 1927? And do you know you share a birthday with Dani (1936, though)? - JerryWeinberg 2005.10.17
LOL. Hi Jerry, Nope. That's my son Isaac's birthday and it's 27th April 2004, not 4th April 1927 :-). Sorry for the confusion :-) --AlanFrancis 2005.10.19
It was definitely difficult to parse 27/04/04, which is exactly opposite the "standard" AYE wiki format. Standards are useful, but if we always adhere to them, we miss out on all this fun stuff. - Jerry Weinberg 2005.10.19
I knew what Alan meant, as I knew it was Isaac, but I would have been stuck otherwise. SherryHeinze 2005.10.19
