WikiWordA WikiWord has a capital letter first and another inside amongst lower case letters. Each WikiWord leads to a page of that name, or establishes the means to create it, displaying a "?" after the highlighted word, like: VeryUnlikelyNameForAnotherPage WikiHelp Why is this not a WikiWord? KenEstesAYEObservations KenEstes 2002.11.21 It has adjacent capitals. --DaveLiebreich A related phenomena is that a last name with two caps becomes a WikiWord whether you want that or not. The WikiWord algorithm is pretty simple, with no exception cases that I know of. -- JimBullock 2002.11.22 Be aware: from Wiki to Wiki there are differences in the WikiWord parsing rules. On this Wiki, imbedding numeric digits other than at the tail invalidates the word as a link. Different degrees of tolerance for digits, for adjacent capital letters. (some Wikis tolerate AaaAAaAa since there are multiple upper/lower transitions.) There are also forcing punctuation on some (See http://Bookshelved.org/) so that single words like Ringworld can be used without artificial middle capital. There are many where there's an escape prefix like [nowiki] ... [/nowiki] for Scottish names, etc. --BobLee 2002.11.25 Silly me. Of course there are exception cases and divergent implementations - Wiki is a nerd thing. Now, of course, we get to argue about why my unique Wiki implementation is better than your Wiki implementation. Let's form a standards committe, a certification program, and let the games begin. -- JimBullock 2002.11.25
